How to Turn Your Dream into a Reality

Turning your dreams into reality can seem overwhelming or impossible. Big dreams are part of life but are often unmet because of a lack of knowledge or planning. Turning your dreams into reality will take perseverance, planning, and action. Below are ten ways to make your dreams part of your reality.

10 Ways to Make Your Dreams a Reality

1. Believe in Yourself - To achieve your dreams, you first need to believe in yourself and your abilities.

2. Action Steps - Taking your dreams and making them part of your life will require that you take daily action steps. Dreams without action will not produce your desired outcome.

3. Time Frame - Give yourself a reasonable deadline to meet smaller goals. Each goal requires your attention and effort to meet that goal. The best way to meet your goals is to write out your desired result and work your way backward.

4. Dream Big- The bigger your dream the more real it can become. Be specific as possible when you journal your dreams this way they become more real to your brain.

5. Stay Positive - Staying positive about your dreams is just as important as creating action steps. If you have family or friends who are not supportive of your dreams, then it may be time to seek support from others.

6. Mindset Checkup - Remind yourself daily that you can achieve your dreams if you are putting forth the correct actions. Use the word “when” instead of “if'' when addressing your goals. For example, you could tell yourself that “When you meet that goal” instead of “If you meet that goal..” Remember, words have power so choose them wisely.

7. Leave it Behind - Is something from your past holding you from moving forward? It may be time for you to take on your past mistakes or address things from your past so you can create a new future. Seek professional help if you struggle  with this situation.

8. Remove Excuses - Do you use your age, finances, or time as an excuse to not work towards your dreams? Don’t allow excuses to get in your way of making your dreams a reality. Figure out what excuse you are battling this way you can overcome it with a plan.

9. Stay Organized - A to-do list is not always the best way to stay organized. Begin by brain-dumping everything on your mind. Now you can look over that information and assign it to a day or completely remove it. Assign the important things for today and then place the other items on their respective dates.

10. Get Connected - Does your dream involve making connections with others? This may be the best time to build a community of family, friends, and professionals that can help you achieve your goals and dreams.

Working towards your dreams is an exciting way to create the life you’ve always wanted. Begin by assessing your goals and working them out in a journal. You may see a pattern of limiting beliefs or lack of support that is hindering your dreams. Remember that you control your life and the outcome so preparing now and moving forward will bring you the desired outcome.

A Woman's Independence and Self-Reliance

Being an independent woman is a life skill that will empower you to take control of your life and rely on yourself to accomplish your dreams. The more independent you are, the more freedom you have to focus on what matters most to you and to attain your goals in ways that are important to you. Being an independent woman is not about being alone but it is about honoring your own needs and values over those of others. Independence is the foundation of your adult life. It’s the thing that allows you to make decisions for yourself, do things for yourself, and move through life without a constant feeling of self-doubt or regret. No one reaches the end of their lives regretting the adventurous things they did do. We do, however, often regret the things we didn’t have the courage or ability to do.  We all have that family member or friend who likes to constantly offer their free advice, or explanation as to why you should live your life a certain way.  Maybe your favorite aunt...

The Skill of Self-Advocacy for Women

Self-advocacy is an important skill that allows women to communicate their needs effectively with others. This includes everyone from bosses to friends, relatives, and spouses.  When women master this skill, they can navigate life more easily with resilience, assertiveness, and confidence.  Here are a few examples of what it means to be your own self-advocate: Asking for a raise at work and providing legitimate evidence that supports your request.   Telling a friend you don’t eat seafood when they recommend it for dinner and suggesting the two of you come up with another idea that pleases everyone involved.   Asking a teacher if you can take a math test in a separate room or after class if you get test anxiety.   These are all very different examples; but they each communicate a vital part of self-advocacy which is understanding the value you bring to the table, communicating your preferences clearly, and recognizing what you need to feel in contr...

Ways to Have Better Conversations for Career and Business Growth

Building your skills to have better conversations in your career or business helps you reach your goals and build relationships with others.    When women feel confident and comfortable they can easily converse with others. But when they are nervous and afraid, which happens all too often in business and work situations, it’s another story. The good news is women can learn different ways to start conversations that are effective. The key is to practice so you get better. Begin by keeping it simple. Have a follow up plan after the initial hello, how are you? Don’t use a clever ice breaker that could blow up on you. Leave the jokes or snappy stories out of the initial conversation as well.   Be yourself and don’t try to say something that isn’t natural to your personality. Give the person you're speaking to a compliment about something such as a project they just finished, a presentation they gave or how organized they are. Ask open-ended questions that require more ...
